note:
We now live lives which are “between the “already” and “the not quite yet” in regard to the new heavens and the new earth. The glory of God and His kingdom has not yet been fully revealed to us, and so it is that we groan with all of creation for the day of incorruptability: “The creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God. We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly, as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies” -Romans 8: 21-23
In this land of shadows we see and know only in part, but we are promised that, even though “it does not yet appear what we shall be” the day is coming when “we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.” -1 John 3:2
Because we do not yet see our Lord face to face, where can we find him? He tells us that in the act of giving water to the thirsty and food to the hungry, we are in fact slacking His thirst and providing Himsustenance: “Inasmuch as you have done it unto one of the least of these, you have done it unto me.” I also take great comfort in Christ’s words to doubting Thomas who would not believe based solely on eyewitnesses, but needed to actually see for himself the resurrected Christ : “Because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed arethey that have not seen, and yet have believed.”
This song is my ode to the shadows and light of this earthly life, and to the day the shadows will be no more and the Son will be revealed in all His splendor and glory.

lyrics

Youth grows old,
Beauty fades
The light grows dim,
Then the end of days
We see his shadow in a piece of bread
We see his shadow in a glass of wine
Silhouettes, echoes, dreams
Behold the man
Silhouettes, echoes, dreams
Take what you can
In fragmented ways
In these dim-lit days
Of second hand
We’re his body,
A broken one
The partial eclipse
Of a radiant sun
We see his shadow in a beggar’s face
We see his shadow in our enemies
Silhouettes, echoes, dreams
Behold the man
Silhouettes, echoes, dreams
Take what you can
In fragmented ways
In these dim-lit days
Of second hand
We stutter step
Our words are weak
For the sense of something,
Hidden deep
We see his shadow in a starry night
We see his shadow in a lover’s kiss
Silhouettes, echoes, dreams
Behold the man
Silhouettes, echoes, dreams
Take what you can
In fragmented ways
In these dim-lit days
Silhouettes, echoes, dreams,
Behold the man
Silhouettes, echoes, dreams
Take what you can
In fragmented ways
In these dim-lit days
Of second hand
Of second hand
Of second hand
Of second hand
Of second hand
Of second hand
